Panda reached a record of nearly thousand hugs in Vilnius Old Town
On the 22nd of December Panda was cycling around Vilnius Old Town with the purpose to hug as much people as possible. The citizens who met Panda on their way were encouraged to welcome it with the hug and become the part of the unique record. Photos of those involved in the event will appear in the I LOVE PANDA campaign album of joy.
I LOVE PANDA is the national campaign of joy, which is based upon the values of human rights. It aims at developing friendly and respectful cyberspace and mutual understanding between young people online. Panda has been chosen to become the symbol and the ambassador of the campaign and is encouraging everybody to build up as much joy and kindness in their everyday lives as possible.
“The target of this campaign is to reduce the levels of hate speech online and media. The origins of cyber bullying are the real world. Hate speech is the language of unhappy, frustrated individuals, to whom aggressive behavior is an attempt to feel better”, – says CEO of NISI Neringa Jurciukonyte. Panda aims at changing that kind of behavior. The purpose of the hug record was to spread positive energy to the citizens and to prove that it is fun to be kind to each other. The shared joy returns several times larger.
“We wanted to show that there is always an alternative for negativity. It does not take much to make others feel better. Hugs and smiles cost nothing, but they are extremely valuable and nearly thousand happy faces of the citizens Panda hugged proves that”, – said Campaign coordinator Viktorija Bruzaite.Back News Archive
